First released in 1997, "The Best Of Fourplay" showcases the smooth jazz supergroup's signature style of memorable melodies, tasteful arrangements and infectious grooves. In addition to selected album excerpts from Fourplay's Warner Bros. repertoire, this 10-track LP contains the band's hit versions of Marvin Gaye's “After The Dance”, sung by El De Barge, and “Between The Sheets” by the Isley Brothers, sung by legendary soul singer Chaka Khan.
Fourplay, originally consisting of Bob James (keyboards), Lee Ritenour (guitar), Nathan East (bass) and Harvey Mason (drums), was formed in 1990 and already topped the US jazz charts with their self-titled debut album: “Fourplay” sold over a million copies. Since then, the band has retained its popularity despite various line-up changes and has released 14 albums to date, three of which have been certified gold. Six Grammy nominations speak for themselves!
“The Best Of Fourplay” has been remastered from the original analog master tapes using high-resolution digital transfers, cut at 33 RPM and pressed on high-quality 180-gram vinyl.
