The most famous New Year's concert in the world is the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert. First held in 1939, it is dedicated to the works of the Strauss family and takes place in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein. Herbert von Karajan conducted this traditional concert only once, in 1987. This recording is now considered legendary. “Interpretation and sound quality: very good!” (HiFi-Vision 12/87)
