Herbert Blomstedt is a quiet giant at the conductor's podium: completely unpretentious, he puts the music, not himself, in the spotlight. His acclaimed recordings with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra bear witness to this legendary partnership. Blomstedt was also principal conductor of the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. His collaboration with the San Francisco Symphony (1985 to 1995) resulted in some of the most spectacular recordings ever made, including sought-after reference recordings.
