Still the loudest wake-up call rock music has ever had: The Ramones sparked the punk rock movement with their eponymous debut album in 1976 and revitalized rock ‘n’ roll, which was in one of its deepest crises at the time, with their attitude, energy, and a loud, fast new sound. By reducing music to its essentials – three chords, a simple, catchy melody, an accelerated tempo, and irresistible lyrics – the Ramones paved the way for thousands of bands that would follow in their footsteps: from The Clash and The Sex Pistols to Green Day and The Offspring! Although the Ramones never achieved mainstream financial success, they released 21 live and studio albums, had an extremely loyal fan base, and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Since then, the album “Ramones” has been awarded multiple times with high rankings in the music press's best-of lists.
As part of its “Acoustic Sounds 40 Series,” Analogue Productions is now celebrating this classic album with a collectible double LP: pressed on 180-gram vinyl by industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP), cut at 45 RPM and housed in a luxurious tip-on gatefold jacket by Stoughton Printing.
