“Symphony No. 4” was composed during the most turbulent period of Tchaikovsky's life. At that time, he had just married and divorced. He also attempted suicide. Of all his works, “Symphony No. 4” is considered by many to be more emotionally moving and musically structured than his earlier compositions, partly due to the personal tragedies he experienced while creating this symphonic masterpiece. This significant work will be performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Pierre Monteux, the renowned classical conductor from Paris who is known for shaping the BSO in the mid-1920s into an orchestra that was world-renowned for its “French” sound and expertise in the French and Russian repertoire.
The reissue of the “RCA Living Stereo Classical” series by Analogue Productions meets the highest audiophile standards: Bernie Grundman is responsible for remastering the original tapes. The double LP (45 RPM) includes a 2-page booklet and was pressed on 180-gram vinyl by industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP) using Classic Records equipment.
