Little Feat was founded by the late, great Lowell George and made music that was laid-back, funky, literary, and impossible to categorize. Little Feat reached its peak with “Dixie Chicken,” the third album released on Warner Bros. Records in 1973. Here, the band found its signature sound: sophisticated, soulful, and irresistibly funky. The title track exudes southern charm, “Two Trains” captivates with its hypnotic rhythm, and “Fat Man In The Bathtub” combines humor and groove in a way that only Lowell George could. As a milestone of 70s rock and funk, “Dixie Chicken” finally gets the sonic treatment it deserves. The album was voted number 563 in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums. The cover artwork is by illustrator Neon Park and is a reference to a line from the third song on the album, “Roll Um Easy.”
As part of its “Acoustic Sounds 40 Series,” Analogue Productions is now celebrating this classic album with a collectible double LP: pressed on 180-gram vinyl by industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP), cut at 45 RPM and housed in a luxurious tip-on gatefold jacket by Stoughton Printing.
