In between appearances with the James Gang and the Eagles, Joe Walsh recorded his second solo studio album, The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get, which was to become his most successful solo effort. The 1973 LP continued the mix of heavy and light rock that had been heard on the previous album, Barnstorm.
The album contains some of Joe Walsh's best-known songs, including the hits 'Rocky Mountain Way', 'Meadows', 'Bookends', 'Wolf' and 'Dreams'. Walsh's ability to jump wildly from one end of the rock scale to the other is unrivalled and makes for an album that appeals to many tastes.
