Solti's Venice is one of a series of recordings by Decca in association with RCA that are legendary among collectors. First released in 1959, this recording from London's Kingsway Hall has become famous for its ravishing strings and excellent dynamics. Just before the end of the first volume, the now famous Aldwych-Holborn tube line can be heard, which the Decca engineers always had to take into account.
Willem Makee remastered the analogue tapes for Analogue Productions. The original recording was made by Kenneth Wilkinson and produced by Michael Bremner.
