An evening in Paris, a trendy restaurant in the style of the Second Empire and a colourful crowd of guests: this is 'Gaîte Parisienne'. The plot of this ballet, first performed in 1938, is not strict, but rather a loose sequence of short but intense love scenes between dusk and dawn. The action does not end until the last waltz has been danced and the last glass of champagne emptied.
Arthur Fiedler conducted the Boston Pops Orchestra through this lively work at Boston Symphony Hall in 1954, creating one of RCA's most popular recordings. Remastered for Analogue Productions by Ryan Smith (Sterling Sound).
